Just this week so far (it being only Tuesday while I write to you), I have spoken to three different clients who are suffering with digestive complaints –– cramping, bloating, and in some cases, horrific pain after eating.

Digestive distress can feel debilitating. 😩

Similarly, many of my clients have linked other inflammatory type symptoms (beyond the digestion – including autoimmunity) that become exacerbated by specific foods, some of which are not the usual top allergens we hear of.

While your digestion is known as the root of your health, eating for a healthy digestion can feel both overwhelming and confusing.

And while removing gluten and dairy is a common approach to addressing some symptoms, these are only sometimes the culprit.

In my personal digestive journey, using the same food allergy blood testing that I offer, I was able to zero in on a couple of “uncommon” but problematic foods for me:  almonds and eggs.

Ironically, I have been gagging on egg whites (sorry for the TMI) since I was a young kid.

The overall quality of our food as a whole is often questionable and the busyness and stress within our culture (and these crazy times in the world) can also wreak havoc on our digestive systems — via the gut-brain axis.

While there are many ways to support your digestive health (and hence the many other aspects of your health), the most important starting point to a healthy digestion is becoming the witness in your own body.

Because one woman's medicine can be another woman's poison.

I created my program, DIGEST, a few years ago so others could learn to navigate their way inward with a guidance system that will teach folks how to get to know the body's digestive ecology, discover the body's innate intelligence, to do the necessary and informative lab work, to then repair their digestive health, no matter where they are starting from.

Today on SATIATE I have an incredible guest and friend speaking to just this. Christine Ruch is the owner and founder of Fresh Thymes Eatery and Bodega By Fresh Thymes here in Boulder Colorado.  She has had quite a journey with food, food allergies, Celiac disease, and Multiple Sclerosis.

LISTEN AND HEAR:

  • How Christine healed her Multiple Sclerosis symptoms with food

  • The most impactful knowledge her food allergies pointed to, and how she turned lemons into lemonade (literally and metaphorically!)

  • The incredible way Christine transformed her healing journey into an opportunity for others to feel supported in their healing, via her incredible restaurants — and what they stand for

  • The unconventional way (hint: it's not what you think) Christine created resiliency and re-inoculated her gut microbiome

  • What she has observed in her body over time with regards to healing the majority of her food allergies

MEET CHRISTINE RUCH:

As Owner and Executive Chef of Fresh Thymes Eatery and Fresh Thymes Marketplace, Christine began her lifelong passion for natural food and holistic health in childhood.

As an avid proponent of whole health and wellness, Chef Christine is a holistic, healing food chef that specializes in teaching whole food nutrition and whole-body wellness strategies to overcome health obstacles.

Her signature emphasis on high flavor complemented by high quality, local when possible, organic, seasonal, nourishing ingredients has helped her achieve optimal wellness and manage Multiple Sclerosis and Celiac disease while also nurturing the Boulder community toward health and wellness as well.  Christine’s niche expertise is optimizing the microbiome to overcome food sensitivities and improve wellbeing.

Since opening Fresh Thymes in 2013, it was named best new restaurant in Boulder County, and awarded year over year for her gluten free, vegetable forward menu.

Today Fresh Thymes Eatery and Marketplace serves a thriving community, and has won the highest ranking in Good Food 100 for over five years. Fresh Thymes is dedicated to great tasting food that also curates for highly specific diets that make dining out a challenge.

Chef Christine thrives on breaking restaurant industry stereotypes, whether in recipe creation, transparency in food sourcing, sustainability, supporting local economies and local food creators as well as creating a haven for the ingredient conscious and everyday eater alike.

If you struggle with digestive distress, inflammation, autoimmunity, or almost any health issue at all (because most health issues are rooted in your digestion and gut microbiome), this episode is for you.

If you need further support, be sure to check out my program, DIGEST.  I would be honored to support.

Be well friends,
