Ubud, Bali

Ubud is a town on the Indonesian island of Bali in Ubud District, located amongst rice paddies and steep ravines in the central foothills of the Gianyar regency.

One of Bali’s major arts and culture centers, it has developed a large tourism industry.  It is a meca of Balinese culture blended with the hip and funky vibration of the international folks if attracts.  Local health food stores and food conscious restaurants sprinkle the streets amidst some of the best shopping and wellness spas to explore.

Ubud has a population of about 30,000 people, but it is becoming difficult to distinguish the town itself from the villages that surround it.

While it once was a haven for scruffy backpackers, cosmic seekers, artists and bohemians, Ubud is now a hot spot for art collectors and connoisseurs. Famous names walk its busy sidewalks everyday.

We chose UBUD and SOULSHINE Bali for our retreat because of the beauty and devotional aspect the culture offers.  Bali fits perfectly into our yogini experience with exceptional local food, simple living and cultural uniqueness.

Soul Shine Retreat Center

The exquisitely designed main building and grounds hosts a river, tropical gardens and several ornate ponds with accommodation up to 26 people – perfect for intimate retreats or family and group vacations.

Rich with a beautiful yoga room over looking the rice fields for yoga practice and group sessions, a refreshing swimming pool and an abundance of mango, jackfruit, banana, mangostein, rambutan, papaya and coconut trees.  Just a quick trip to the town of UBUD where you can explore the balinese culture.  A short jaunt to explore traditional Balinese temples, a local volcano and other special highlights.

  • 10 min from Sacred Monkey Forest and downtown UBUD
  • 1 hour from Denpasar Airport
