Ubud is a town on the Indonesian island of Bali in Ubud District, located amongst rice paddies and steep ravines in the central foothills of the Gianyar regency.
One of Bali’s major arts and culture centers, it has developed a large tourism industry. It is a meca of Balinese culture blended with the hip and funky vibration of the international folks if attracts. Local health food stores and food conscious restaurants sprinkle the streets amidst some of the best shopping and wellness spas to explore.
Ubud has a population of about 30,000 people, but it is becoming difficult to distinguish the town itself from the villages that surround it.
While it once was a haven for scruffy backpackers, cosmic seekers, artists and bohemians, Ubud is now a hot spot for art collectors and connoisseurs. Famous names walk its busy sidewalks everyday.
We chose UBUD and VILLA SELAT for our retreat because of the beauty and devotional aspect the culture offers. Bali fits perfectly into our yogini experience with exceptional local food, simple living and cultural uniqueness.
