Ubud, Bali

Ubud is a town on the Indonesian island of Bali in Ubud District, located amongst rice paddies and steep ravines in the central foothills of the Gianyar regency.

One of Bali’s major arts and culture centers, it has developed a large tourism industry.  It is a meca of Balinese culture blended with the hip and funky vibration of the international folks if attracts.  Local health food stores and food conscious restaurants sprinkle the streets amidst some of the best shopping and wellness spas to explore.

Ubud has a population of about 30,000 people, but it is becoming difficult to distinguish the town itself from the villages that surround it.

While it once was a haven for scruffy backpackers, cosmic seekers, artists and bohemians, Ubud is now a hot spot for art collectors and connoisseurs. Famous names walk its busy sidewalks everyday.

We chose UBUD and VILLA SELAT for our retreat because of the beauty and devotional aspect the culture offers. Bali fits perfectly into our yogini experience with exceptional local food, simple living and cultural uniqueness.

Sue’s ability to lead is remarkable.  She gracefully and intentionally adapts to the needs of the group and is able to dig in to get to the heart of the matter in a tender and loving way.  Her wisdom and thoughtfulness is evident in everything we did.  She is a wonderful yoga teacher and remarkable workshop leader.  Her heart-centered approach allows woman the safe container to be vulnerable and open up in ways that can accelerate growth.  All of our needs are met so we can focus on our intentions and relax into the experience.  Sue’s retreats are always life-changing for me.  I am a more balanced and thoughtful person because of her.

Over the course of our week together, I learned how to drop into myself, become more aware and in the moment and how to have more authentic relationships with women. I had time to take for me as well as time for rejuvenation, rest and relaxation. Sue’s retreat provided an amazing experience of deep connection with myself and the other beautiful women.

I am blown away by this retreat. The facilitator brought a really unique flavor, and it created a really juicy retreat. Spending time with a small group of women was magic. I feel deeply connected to this group, after only 6 days. I’m reminded of the beauty of connecting and spending time with just women. I was blow away by the meals! I am leaving feeling grounded, nourished and full of joy. The balance between connection and me time was fabulous, and I will carry the feeling of this onward with me. Thank you thank you to each of you! I feel like I’m surfing the wave of bliss right into my next adventure. With love and gratitude.

I would recommend this retreat for anyone who wants to experience a loving, healthy, contemplative environment to strengthen or even begin a yoga practice. It has been a once in a lifetime adventure that I will never forget. And the retreat facilitators and participants are an extraordinary group of beings.

Sue truly knows how to host a first-class retreat. I’ve been on many retreats, and none of them come close to the level of service, kindness, caring and compassion these beautiful professionals have for their guests. Every detail is taken care of. All you need to do is show up, physically, spiritually and mentally.
— Iffer (2011, 2012, 2013 participant)
Thank you so much for putting together such a wonderful retreat! This has been an amazing week for me filled with great memories and exciting adventures!
— Ashley (2013 and 2014 participant)
I have been looking for a spa to go to since I retired. I brought my daughter to the retreat knowing it would be right up her ally. Our leaders worked so closely with us and we were able to leave rested and refreshed – the best for both of us!
